The Groundbreaking Female Poets bundle presents the work of four unique Latin American female poets. Ranging from the revolutionary avant-garde of the 1920s to the post-humanist affections of cybernetic culture, this collection contains a wide spectrum of women’s reflections on the body, love, politics, and desire.

Hope and the Sea by Magda Portal, was originally published in Lima in 1927 and is considered one of the most remarkable books from the Peruvian literary avant-garde. Portal, a feminist leader, avant-garde poet, and political organizer, was an acclaimed poet by the age of twenty-three and became a key participant in the political and intellectual milieu surrounding Amauta magazine. “Hope and the Sea” speaks from an intimate yet transcendental voice, facing the immensity of the sea, earthly forces, and the depths of the human heart, with immense feeling for the suffering of the poor.

Ajy Tojen by Raquel Jodorowsky, is a facsimile edition of the 12th issue of El Corno Emplumado/The Plumed Horn (Mexico, October 1964), which is dedicated entirely to Jodorowsky’s work. This edition celebrates the legacy of Jodorowsky and the bilingual poetry journal El Corno Emplumado, preserving the integrity of a historical artifact that informs us about the past, present, and future of Latin America.

Reconstruction of the Father and Other Writings by Iris Kiya, is a dual-language edition that compiles three poetry collections exploring the inherent violence of images and their effects on subjects. Using a series of male aliases/heteronyms, Kiya evokes memories of soldiers at war, children at play, and lovers in crisis armed with a rich poetic imagery and a broad palette of affections. This anthology promises to be a generous introduction for English speaking audiences to the work of one of the most celebrated Bolivian female poets of the last decade.

Cam Girl and Other Poems by FioLoba, a neurodivergent queer artist, poet, and cultural organizer from Lima, Peru. Her work has been published on several Latin American websites, magazines, and poetry blogs. FioLoba’s poetry explores the intersection of body, self-image, politics, and gender, using queer-ethics and glitch-aesthetics to create a unique voice that navigates the decay of our technological future. This book is a compilation of her best work from 2017-2021.
